ХАРКІВСЬКЕ ВІДДІЛЕННЯ ТОВАРИСТВА «УКРАЇНА – НІМЕЧЧИНА» В ОРГАНІЗАЦІЇ ГУМАНІТАРНОЇ ДОПОМОГИ МІСТУ (1990-ті – ПОЧАТОК 2000-х рр.)

Анотація
На початку 1990-х Україну спіткала глибока економічна криза. У цей момент на допомогу харків’янам прийшли німецькі друзі. Благодійне товариство Arbeiterwohlfahrt (AWO) із міста Берінгенсдорф-Швайг поблизу Нюрнберга ініціювало акцію «Допомога Харкову», яка тривала протягом майже 13 років, упродовж яких до Харкова було спрямовано більше 7 гуманітарних конвоїв. Члени Харківського Товариства «Україна–Німеччина» Л. Маєвська, Л. Крюкова, Г. Селігов, І. Бринзюк та інші брали активну участь в організації цих акцій. Згодом ініціативу на себе перебрало міське керівництво, окремі організації та установи. Товариство на початку 2000-х припинило своє існування. The Kharkiv German Democratic Republic Friendship Society was established in Kharkivin 1968. After the collapse of the USSR, the structure of the Society at the union level was destroyed, nevertheless it was decided to reformatit into “The Ukraine-Germany” Societyin Kyiv. The Kharkiv branch was named the same. In the early 1990s, Ukraine experienced a deep economic crisis. The rupture of economic ties between the former Soviet republics hit the big industrial city of Kharkiv hard. At that moment, the German friends came to Kharkiv residents’aid. In the town of Beringensdorf-Schweig near Nuremberg, which at that time became a partner city of Kharkiv, there was a charity Arbeiterwohlfahrt (AWO). Its chairperson at that time was Friz Körber, who was also vice-president of Bavaria.On AWO chairperson’sinitiative, the "Help to Kharkiv" campaign began, which lasted for about 13 years, during which more than 7 humanitarian convoys were sent to Kharkiv. F. Körber and his colleagues demanded that the help be targeted - "from hand to hand". The most active members of the Society L. Maevska, L. Kryukova, G. Seligov, I. Brynzyuk and others met the convoys and assisted in distributing the aid, communicating with sponsored families and institutions.They took part in organizing German comrades’ meetings with children victims of Chernobyl, orphans of the orphanage "Childhood" in the village of Vysokyi. Visits to children's hospitals, the Genetic Centre, the boarding school for visually impaired children, psychiatric hospital and other places were arranged as well. During this period, the Society meetings were held periodically, personal contacts were maintained. The Society activists participated in meeting humanitarian convoys and identifying those who were in need. However, later on the initiative was taken over by the city administration, some organizations and institutions. The company ceased to exist in the early 2000s.
