Анотація
Розглянуто внесок видатного вітчизняного вченого і педагога вищої школи М. Максимовича в розширення перспективи українознавства в часи Київської Русі та розкриття витоки протонаціональної свідомості у контексті історії та культури давньоруської держави. The article describes the contribution of the outstanding scientist and teacher of the higher school M. Maksimovich in the expansion perspective of Ukrainian studies in the times of Kyivan Russia, the revelation of the origins of protonational consciousness in the context of the history and culture of the ancient Russian state. Highlights ways of bringing M. Maksimovich autochthonous Slavic population in the times of Kyivan Russia and the existence of a southern Russian people «historical lands», the creation of the historical process in the territories that are transmitted from one generation to another that the continuity of the historical process in domestic spaces is considered as one of the basic requirements of formation of national consciousness, the process of understanding our ancestors a special historical relationship with the native land and the formation of Patriotic qualities of the old Russian society that the scientist emphasized on the relationship between faith and self-identification process and considered Orthodox spirituality as the condition for the formation of internal cohesion and a way to affirm the people's identity. It is emphasized that M. Maksimovich was considered by the then government as a means of forming consciousness and creation of community, and identified its impact on the rising levels of ethnic identity. It is determined that the researchers used comparative-historical method to Philology to identify the characteristics of the Ukrainian language, M. Maksimovich identified factors that influenced the formation of the «South Russian speech» and determined the time of the formation of its «no later than the ancient period». It is proved that the philological work of the scientist contributed to the recovery of outstanding works of ancient era to the cultural heritage of the Ukrainian people that the teacher considered the Ukrainian language as one of the factors of creation of national consciousness that the scientist highlighted the aesthetic and ideological value of the cultural heritage of Kyivan Russia in the common European space. It is proved that M. Maksimovich stressed the close relationship of continuity of historical and cultural values of the period of Kyivan Russia with the fact that in the XIX century was considered a specifically Ukrainian, the teacher used the materials of scientific researches in educational process of higher education, educated students interest in Ukrainian themes. The teacher believed the combination of civic education and awareness of their own ethnic roots. This provision was included as one of the main development problems of formation of national consciousness in our time.
