dc.description.abstractУ статті розглядається побутові опалювальні пристрої лісостепового населення Хозарського каганату, що виникають під впливом або в наслідок копіювання обігрівальних пристроїв сусіднього слов'янського населення. Виділяється кілька їх різновидів, що свідчить про індивідуальну адаптацію окремих домогосподарств до нових способів життя до нових природних умов та матеріалів. В цьому вбачається певна слов'янизація побуту населення Хозарії під впливом інтенсивних контактів із племенами східних слов'ян (перш за все – літописних сіверян). In the early Middle Ages there were two big ethno political groups in the territory of the south of Eastern Europe (Fig. 1). The southern part of the East was settled by poly-ethnical early feudal state – the Khazar khaganate. It was represented with Saltov archaeological culture in the middle of VIII – the middle of X cc AD. Northern-western neighbours of the khaganate were eastern Slavonic tribes of the Northerners (Romny archaeological culture in the middle of VIII – the beginning of XI cc AD) and the Slavs at the Don (Borshevo culture in VIII – the beginning of XI cc AD). Interinfluence of these two groups developed differently. It may be mainly observed that a higher level of householding and material production of the Khazars influenced over the neighbour Slavs in agriculture, pottery trade, and fortifications. However, we may discover an opposite process in house-building. Adjustment of the newcomers from the North Caucasus (the Alans) and the steppe (the Bulgars, Ugric and Turkic peoples) towards the territory of the Dnieper-Don forest-steppe happened as individual adaptation of certain households to the new lifestyles and household types. “Newly-arrived” could not help paying attention to traditions of local households and interior design. They were gradually picking up some traits of house-building from local people. It was affected by the Slavs that there appeared 3 new types of fireplaces (Fig. 4–7) and 2 types of hearths (Fig. 8; 9) in the usage of forest-steppe Khazar population. The research is devoted to generalization of up-to-date syncretic materials about heated construction of forest-steppe people in the Khazar khaganate.uk_UA.UTF-8
