dc.description.abstractСтатья посвящена анализу причин возникновения, особенностей развития и значения уникального явления в истории японской и мировой авиации – «Специального ударного корпуса божественного ветра», состоявшего из летчиков-смертников (камикадзе), на завершающем этапе войны на Тихом океане (1944 – 1945 гг.) Стаття присвячена аналізу причин виникнення, особливостей розвитку та значення унікального явища в історії японської та світової авіації – «Спеціального ударного корпусу божественного вітру», що складався з льотчиків-смертників (камікадзе), на завершальному етапі війни на Тихому океані (1944 – 1945 рр.) The research is devoted to the analysis of the reasons of emergence, the peculiarities of the development and significance of the unique phenomenon in the history of Japanese and world aviation – the Special shock corps of the Divine Wind which consisted of suicide pilots (kamikaze) at the final stage of the War in the Pacific Ocean (1944 – 1945). After the defeat in the Battle for Midway Atoll (1942) during the offensive operations of the Allied forces in the Pacific Ocean Japanese military industry couldn’t compete with American industry, and the Imperial Army and Navy suffered series of defeats. The catastrophic losses of experienced pilots also became an important reason for using the «new weapons» in Japanese aviation. The Special shock battalion of kamikaze, which created on the initiative of the vice-admiral Takichiro Onishi in October 1944, were the last hope of the high command of the Imperial aviation to break the Allied strategic initiative in their favor and avoid shameful capitulation. The principles of selection to the Special shock corps, its social composition, material and spiritual aspects of the participation of suicide pilots in this unit have been analyzed by the author. The phenomenon of kamikaze became a symbol of suicide pilots’ self-sacrifice for the Emperor and the Country of the Rising Sun according to religious and ideological basis of Shinto and Zen Buddhism. In spite of this, the Japanese Empire failed the implementation of colonial plans in the South-East Asia and in the Pacific during the Second World War and it couldn’t defend its territory from occupation by the Allied forces at the final stage of military actions.uk_UA.UTF-8
