Анотація
У статті розглядається історія створення та розвитку городища Мохинач (Зміївський р-н Харківської обл.) та заселення його округи на різних етапах існування людської спільності. Виділяються пам ’ятки кам'яної та бронзової доби, що передували створенню городища, а також ті що співпадають з його створенням, розвитком та перебудовою, скіфський період ранньої залізної доби, раннє середньовіччя (пеньківська, салтівська та роменська культури), новий час. Mokhnach hill-fort is located on a high cape at the right hank o f the river Siversky Donets, near vil. Mokhnach (Kharkiv region). There are nineteen settlements altogether which were discovered in the surrounding area. These terrains draw people's inflow ever since the Stone
Age, when a first settlement appeared in the Neolithic period. There were nine settlements
in the Bronze Age. Settlement on the Mokhnach hi11-fort site emerged in the Early Iron Age.
Its evolution went through four stages (the Early Iron Age, the Early Middle Ages, the New
Age), each one characterized by certain changes in its fortified structures and in the extent of
rural housing. Seven adjacent settlements refer to the Scythian period (mid. 5,!'-4'h centuries
BCj. There were three groups o f the population that succeeded each other in Middle Ages.
Two settlements belong to Penkivka culture (6",-early 8,b centuries). Seventeen settlements
emerged in mid. 8!h-mid. 10,h following the development o f Saltov culture. One settlement
should be related to Romny culture (mid. / (P'-mid. 11”' centuries). The group o f seven settlements appeared in the Modern Age marking the foundation ofSlobodschanschtschina realm
(mid I6,h-18th centuries).
