Анотація
У статті йдеться про абревіатури в терміносистемі освіти на матеріалі англійської та французької мов. Визначено основні типи абревіатур – термінів освіти, проаналізовано їхні структурні характеристики, особливості
функціонування. В освітньому дискурсі абревіатури вступають у повноправні лексико-семантичні відношення з іншими словами, відповідно до чого вони отримують повноцінне граматичне оформлення. Абревіатури англійської
та французької мов, що функціонують у відповідних національних терміносистемах освіти, є складним, поліаспектним явищем, яке стрімко розвивається й змінюється, здійснюючи помітний вплив на мовну систему. At the present stage, the main function of abbreviations is to save space and
time, which is evidenced by their active usage in everyday and professional communication.
The aim of this article is to study the formation and functioning of abbreviations
in the terminology of the education system in modern English and modern
French, to determine their main types, analysis of the content aspect. In the process
of studying terms-abbreviations of the education system, several main types were
singled out: initial abbreviations (letter or sound), compound abbreviations, compound
words of different types. Using the traditional classification based on the type
of abbreviation pronunciation, the terms of education can be divided into three main
groups: alphabetisms – those that are pronounced alphabetically, acronyms – those
that are pronounced as ordinary words, abbreviations of mixed type. In the process
of analyzing the material, it was found that the use of initial letter abbreviations
or initialisms dominates in official educational texts. Abbreviations that include letters
from structural parts of peech of complete complex construction are not often
found in the terminology of education, conjunctions and articles in abbreviations are rarely used, their role is not significant, therefore their absence does not complicate the
interpretation of the abbreviation.
Clearly organized and well-developed hyper-hyponymic relations are observed
in the system of terms-abbreviations of the education system. In educational discourse,
as in any other professional communication, abbreviations have lexical-semantic relations
with other words. The semantics of abbreviations reflect various aspects of modern
education system: professions, positions; qualification documents, legislative acts;
management and administration, councils, committees; scientific, educational, methodological
organizations; phenomena, realities, features, strategies, projects.
According to the results of the study, abbreviations of the terminology of education
in modern English and modern French are a complex, multifaceted phenomenon
that is rapidly developing and changing, having a significant impact on the language
system.
