In this study, in the hermeneutic unfolding of art history and cultural studies, the idea of glorifying the love of Unity is presented, which is a rethinking of the anxiety of Expectation and in the similarity of Gioachino Rossini’s glorification of Hope and Unity. Based on the performance “prompts” about the specifi cs of the expression of love expectations in the expressive set of Carmina Burana by Carl Orff, we note the meaningful features of this work through the above approach. First, it is a principled multilingualism and multi-genre set in the cantata assembly as hypertrophy of “German eclecticism” in the South German refraction of the national character of music. But the setting of Latin in the No. 1, its repetition in the fi nal No. 25 give the sacral allusions to the rigorous content of the original choir, imposing the corresponding meaning on the various expressive levels of the composition. As a result, attention is paid to the ritual (mystery, carnival) stimuli of the compositional decoration of the work, with its reliance on Byzantine-Greek and Italian sources of expressiveness of an ethnically complex whole. The summing up aspect of expressiveness is the introduction into the aggregate signifi cance of the texts of the 12th – 13th centuries with their association of the “energy of the young” in the suicide sacrifi cial actions, such as the Children’s Crusade with allusion to the young people’s competition thrill of the 1930s, which existed after the terrible events of World War I and on the eve of suicide messages of World War II. And since then, the love poems that prevail in Carmina Burana make up the expected joy of love, the traits of which are to be found in only the vain search of Primo vere of Part I, in the drinking and eating exercises of Part II and the touches of the love calls of Part III. The second cantata Catulli Carmina of the triptych presents the image of the sacrifi cial Atonement of self-centered, volitional love, whose moral forbearance destroys the anticipated joy of taking the gain. And how not to recognize in this “morality of forced love” the beautiful-talented and self-centered-irrepressible Catullus – an image of the German youth, who on the roads of the War gave their life for the greatness of spreading the German spirit, tested in the success of scientifi c and artistic achievements, among the peoples who for various reasons did not accept those merits. In the German environment of the early 1940s, the socio-painful implication of that “Latin love story” – and after all the grandeur and dignity of Rome raises behind it – could not but cause certain allusions, especially in partnership with Mussolini’s Rome, which openlyreferred to the artistic-philosophical achievements in the fi gures of Filippo Marinetti, Carlo Carrà, Giovanni Gentile and others. The Greek-Latin composition of the texts of the third cantata Trionfo di Afrodite emblemize the historical areas of Europe as a whole, which were split into the multilingual “Bavarian exoticism” and Latin verbalism in Carmina Burana, concentrated in the aestheticism of the forbidden Latin legacy in Carmina Burana and, fi nally, balanced in the speech appeals to the sacred allusions of the West and the East in the Triumphs. The allegory of those juxtapositions made by the composer in combining the cantatas into a triptych, which were written in different decades, leads to the preparation of the glorifying the traditions that must accept the Love which comes from the blessing of the environment and is saturated with the approval of traditions that come from different but historically related sources – Greek and Roman cultural legacy, by the mouth of the choral masses, the voices of the peoples. And the Greek origin dominates, embodied in the name of Aphrodite, not its Roman counterpart – a name directed into the archaic times of the peoples of Europe, although in the process of glorifying the goddess of Love-Unity, the Roman poems somehow summarize the Triumphs. The scientific novelty of the study is determined by the interpretative originality of the approach to the works by Carl Orff, the unconditional side of which is the pathos of glorifi cation which as its object brings forth the love of Unity, embodying, despite the tragedy of epoch-making and the cruelty in the relations of the love communication carriers, the image of Hope, presented mainly by the hymn sounding of the triptych music and the allusive imprint of the romantic optimism of Rossini’s precedence in the genre of scenic cantata. The conclusion of the analysis is the image of the Hope of Love, which can be fulfi lled in the case of the “mercy of Fortune”, and the glorifi cation of it in Carmina Burana indicated by the idea of referring to the texts of “teenagers” of the 12th – 13th centuries till the era famous for wars with then-Byzantine peers and the organization of the Children’s Crusade, doomed to failure by their own idea and to participate in which the parents sent their best kins. The hope of love and glorifi cation of it is found in the deliberate loneliness of theCatulli Carmina hero who is self-centrally in love, in the rigid super-identity of the marriage ceremony in Trionfo di Afrodite. In the third cantata, the references to the Greek cultural principles, supported by the predominance of the choral mass, bring to fruition the taking of captives who accept the painless and joyful bonds of Unity. The triptych of cantatas by Carl Orff was declared in the early youth wave of the 1950s, commemorating the Glory of young people who appealed to the values of the European East without breaking with the cultural precepts of the West. Rossini’s socio-political allegory of Hope in the scenic cantatas of the 1810s – 1820s found a refraction in the compositions by Carl Orff, whom the precepts of the Unity of the various tribal population of Bavaria showed the way of Love in glorifying the origins of the East in the cultural environment of the European West.
